parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning.

parkrun is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last. Everyone is welcome to come along.

Across the year, the club organises a few longer trail runs. Some of these runs started out as races or training runs of founding members.

Annual Club Runs

Haddington Trail Half Marathon

Satellite map showing a winding trail marked by yellow dots, over a green landscape with fields and farmland.

The Haddington Trail Half Marathon starts and finishes at the Golf Course gates. The route takes in the Barney Hill, skirting Athelstaneford, and passing through East Linton before returning along the River Tyne to Haddington.

The club usually run this route together in May each year, and try to have handicapped timing, aiming to all finish around the same time (8pm).

We usually head to the Tyneside for a drink and catch up afterwards.

Carfraemill to Gifford Run

This run was started to celebrate club founder Henry Muchamore’s 45th birthday and was ran from the Goblin Ha’ Hotel to Carfraemill Hotel. We’ve now reversed the route to the current Carfraemill to Goblin Ha’ Hotel route.

The route is approximately 17km / 10.5 miles.

We run this route in August each year and are often joined by friends from Dunbar and Musselburgh running clubs, and the East Lothian Triathlon club.

The club arranges for the runners to be taken by bus to the start and there is usually a meal or drinks afterwards. All welcome!

Goats Gallop

The Goats Gallop route is a great reminder of our Founding member, Dave Jones. Dave had a great love of the Lammermuir Hills and enjoyed running the original Goats Gallop route as one of his regular solo training runs in the mid 1980’s.

Starting at Longyester, just outside Gifford, the route initially follows tarmac which becomes a Land Rover track which then gives way to more challenging terrain as it starts to climb Lammer Law. The route continues to the Law summit and then back down to where it picks up a trail leading to a heathery cross-moor section before a steep descent into the valley below. The terrain changes again to good tracks and back to tarmac to the finish.

In 2014 a deviation was added to the route involving an extra steep climb and cross-country section. This new section makes this tough course even tougher! Another deviation along the NW side of the reservoir was also added, cutting out more tarmac and creating a lovely wee addition to the original route.

This is a beautiful route of approximately 14km / 8.5 miles in stunning surroundings. Members of the club often run this route together in October/November.

Herring Road

Map showing a route from the south to the north, near a lake, with towns named Duns, Haddington, Tranent, and a coastline in the top right corner.

The Herring Road is a 50k trail from Lauder to Dunbar over the Lammermuir Hills.

Join the club for a great day in the hills. Pace will be gentle with emphasis on time on feet rather than speed. It’s a great introduction to hilly trail ultras, with nice rolling hills (no crazy ascents). There’s usually support at mile 18 (and an optional early finish and a lift back to Haddington for those who want).

This is usually organised in December/January and is a great recent addition to the club calendar.
